The Center for Student Success is the research and evaluation arm of the Research & Planning Group. CSS seeks to:

Summer Block for 1st-Time Students

DESCRIPTION

Focus of program is to take 1st-time college students and orient them to 
matriculation process, finances, and registration in preparation for the beginning of 
Fall semester.

EVIDENCE OF IMPACT/SUCCESS

27 students completed the block in 2000 (out of 30) and returned in
the Fall 
semester. 21% (27) returned in Spring and 60% have attended for the
last three 
semesters.

80% of all students enrolled full-time in their 1st-semester, 3% (9-11
units) and 
13% (6-8 units). Much higher units of enrollment than comparison
group. Only five
students did not continue into the Spring semester.
