Promoting Diversity in Health Occupations Program

DESCRIPTION

The Center for Student Success (CSS) identified, reviewed and documented
promising practices that community college health occupations programs have
developed to increase the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority
(URM) students in ten health occupations programs in California: registered
nursing, licensed vocational nursing, certified nurse assistant, radiologic
technology, dental hygiene, psychiatric technician, repsiratory therapy, medical
assisting, and emergency medical technician. The report covers strategies that
health professions programs in community colleges use to: develop interest or
access, prepare students for entry, and promote student retention.
