The Center for Student Success is the research and evaluation arm of the Research & Planning Group. CSS seeks to:

• enable researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers to identify educational strategies and exemplary practices that promote the success of California community college students

• provide California community colleges with professional research and evaluation expertise to support the adoption of strategies and practices applicable to real time situations at the college level

CSS's Director is Dr. Robert Gabriner (rgabrine@ccsf.edu).  Researchers are drawn from institutional researchers, faculty, and administrative staff from the 109 California community colleges.

This website is organized into knowledge areas, represented by tabs on the top of the page. Each knowledge area offers a variety of case studies representing effective practices in California's community colleges. Large research studies and other resources are available for download in the project's section of the website.

Searching Case Studies

To search case studies, either enter a search term in the Search box at the top left of the screen (followed by enter) or select a knowledge area tab to search for cases within a particular knowledge area (Student Success, Diversity, etc.). You may search for cases within a particular knowledge area in one of two ways:

1. Click on the Find Case Studies button without any categories select or search terms added to give all cases in that area.
2. To refine search, select a category by selecting the boxes next to the categories you would like (you can select multple boxes) and/or add search terms to the search box. Click Find Case Studies to perform this search.

Register

We encourage you to register for the website. Registration is free and will give you access to a variety of features including:

• My Portfolio: Save cases for easy viewing at a later time.
• Listservs: Sign up for listservs.

Listservs

A listserv is an email tool that allows members the opportunity to post comments to a large group of people at the same time. When a member of a listserv submits a comment, that comment is distributed to everyone on the list.

This website offers a variety of listservs that you can join. You can subscribe or unsubscribe to listservs by registering to the website or updating your settings in "My Settings". To subscribe to a list, simply check the box next to the list you would like to join. To unsubscribe, uncheck the box next to the corresponding list.
