Fundraising Tools for Community Colleges

The purpose of the tool kit is to provide community colleges with guidelines and examples to start raising funds or to expand current fundraising efforts. The tool kit does not prepare users to write a complete grant proposal. The kit provides a structure for thinking about and planning a proposal. After users complete the exercises they will be in a better position to work effectively with a grant specialist. For those who have written grants in the past, the resource kit provides you a good structural framework for planning and writing a proposal. The manual is organized around eight questions: I. How do funders think? II. Am I ready to develop a proposal? III. Who will fund my program? IV. Who could join me in asking for support? V. How do I work with funders? VI. What can I learn from colleagues who are good at raising money? VII. What is a Letter of Intent and how do I write one? VIII. Where can I get additional help? The eight sections and corresponding exercises are organized around different steps in the grant development process. Those who are new to fundraising are encouraged to complete exercises in Sections I and II first.
